The work is not a realistic representation of the houses in which the artist actually lived; rather, it embodies such houses in a more abstract sense, using the forms of the houses that linger in the artist's memories. The PVC slate, one of the building materials used in the work, is what the artist remembers as being one of the actual materials used in the houses of his memories. The use of cheap, disposable materials that are easily broken symbolize the vulnerability of childhood emotions and embody for Chen the memories of his own childhood, growing up as he did in a country that was then quite impoverished and where such materials were used widely precisely because they were easy to get and inexpensive. It is not a revival of "place" that is the focus; rather, the artist hopes to ignite the spectator's pure sensory response to the work first, before the analytical one. The space on the right consists of an overlap of four structures in different locations where the artist once lived and of which he still holds vivid memories. Light bulbs are installed in the center to guide visitors inside where they encounter structures of various shapes and sizes, one after another. The work created with cheap PVC, wood and other materials, visitors are led into a new architectural space via a dark path in the exhibition hall. Light bulbs reflect their shadows on the slate wall before they enter the house-shadows which can be seen from the outside. The long, straight path "B" leads visitors to the interior of the house and is so narrow that only one person can walk it at a time. When visitors enter area “A" (the house interior) via the long, narrow path "B", they are greeted with an abstract and fantastical space. A mirror is attached to a hexagonal column inside the space and water falls stalled drops. Lights are installed underneath the floor of the path making it look flooded, and shadows are reflected on the water. It feels as if one has entered a timeless world.
